The India-Sweden Healthcare Innovation Centre provides an ecosystem of open innovation through which start-ups and the healthcare delivery stakeholders collaborate and address current and future challenges in the healthcare sector in India.

Spirit of the India - Sweden Partnership for a sustainable future

This is a tripartite collaboration between the Swedish Trade Commissioner’s Office, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS Delhi) and All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur (AIIMS Jodhpur), including knowledge partners such as AstraZeneca. This collaboration has been signed under the umbrella of the India Sweden Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in health and public health which was agreed between the countries in 2009.

A Joint Declaration on Innovation Partnership for a Sustainable Future was created to deepen bilateral collaboration in the field of Innovation during Indian Prime Minster Mr. Narendra Modi’s visit to Sweden.

AIIMS Delhi was created to serve as a nucleus for nurturing excellence in all aspects of healthcare. It is at the forefront of using innovation to improve therapeutics and translate scientific insights into new treatments. The India-Sweden Innovation Centre collaboration will strengthen India's efforts in finding innovative solutions for ‘affordable and accessible healthcare in India

AIIMS Jodhpur has been established with a mission to be a centre of excellence in medical education, training, research and patient care. With AIIMS Jodhpur hosting important components of the India-Sweden innovation centre collaboration, the institution will contribute to creating a positive impact across the healthcare delivery system in the country.

This collaboration is built on the quadruple-helix model with the active participation of government, academia, private enterprises and civil society. The broad vision of the collaboration is to strengthen the healthcare delivery system by an outcome and result-based approach

This year marks 10 years of India-Sweden cooperation in healthcare. And today, AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Jodhpur, and Swedish Trade Commissioner's Office in Delhi joined hands to set up a healthcare innovation centre
